Cyrus Mehta recently moved from Maconomy UK to the Maconomy US office – adding yet another dimension to his professional career. He is working with technical installation, upgrades and support of the Maconomy Software.
Why did you choose to apply for a position in the US?
I had already spent 2 years with the US office before, from 2001 - 2003and I really got to like it here. I've always wanted to come back, and the opportunity arose when we got a new CEO in the US office, who I had worked with before. He actually rejoined Maconomy. I must say that both the US and UK offices were very helpful and patient during the transition process.
In what way do you feel being in Maconomy increases your personal market value?
Maconomy always strives (and usually succeeds) at being at the “bleeding edge” of technology. Although the product itself is not as widely recognized as some of our competitors, the technology that we use with it is usually very new. Also, the ability for Maconomy to integrate more with other products means that we have to know those products too, and this is what increases my personal market value. In the past year I’ve been involved in many professional challenges, the greatest of which being the move over to the US.
What comes to your mind when talking about “career”?
Some people think of “career” as promotions and moving up through a company, but I think Maconomy shows that you can be “promoted” horizontally, as well as vertically. For me, at the moment, maintaining my “career” is all about making sure that I am valuable to the people that I work with and for. As long as I feel that I’m still contributing in an effective manner, I have a career!
In what way do you strive to be an authority within you your field?
Keeping up to date with all the new developments and integrations coming out of HQ is a challenge enough! Also, thank God for Google!
